In this article, we'll show you how to resolve a verification loop in Virtru's Secure Reader — a situation where you complete the verification process but are immediately sent back to the login page and prompted to verify again.
What's Happening
This issue is typically caused by a browser cache or cookie conflict that prevents your session from saving correctly after verification completes. Clearing your browser data gives the Secure Reader a clean slate and usually resolves the loop right away.
Steps to Fix It
- Close all Virtru tabs in your browser.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies for All Time using the guide for your browser:
- Chrome: Clear cache & cookies in Chrome

- Firefox: Clear Cookies, Site Data, and Cache in Firefox
- Safari: Manage cookies and website data in Safari on Mac
- Mobile Safari: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Mobile Chrome (select the tab for your device — Android or iPhone/iPad): Clear cache & cookies
- Open the original email from the sender, and click Unlock Message.
- Select or enter the email address the secure message was sent to, then work through the verification steps again.
Note: If you choose to sign in with a one-time verification link, make sure to open the verification email on the same device and in the same browser where you started the process.
