About
With Virtru, you can easily protect your emails by encrypting messages and attachments in a few simple clicks. To send encrypted emails from Outlook desktop, first be sure to install and activate the Virtru Outlook add-in.

More detailed step-by-step instructions can be found below.
Please Note:
Virtru offers a separate Outlook 365 Add-in (Web, Desktop, Mobile). If you are using that plugin, instructions on how to send encrypted emails can be found here.
Steps to Encrypt
1. Click New Email from the main Outlook window.
2. Open the Message tab and click the Virtru button to turn Virtru ON.
The button should turn blue and read Virtru ON.
3. Add your recipients, subject, body of the email, and any relevant attachments. If you wish, you can select additional security options for the message, including Disable Forwarding, setting an Expiration Date, and applying Watermarking and/or Persistent File Protection (PFP) to attachments.
You can also set a one-time, unencrypted personal introduction for the message to either introduce Virtru to new users or provide some context about the email. Just click Personal Introduction in your draft window.
Special formatting not supported
The Personal Introduction only supports plain text and line breaks.
4. When your message is ready, click Send. You should see a brief animation letting you know that the message is Encrypting before it is fully sent
