If you’re reading this, you’ve likely received an email to view files protected by Virtru. This means the sender has elected to use Virtru to encrypt the files. In this article, we’ll show you how to quickly access your secure files in the Virtru Secure Share website.
Verification
Before you can view any files, you will need to verify your identity and log into the Secure Share portal with your email address.
1. Click View Files in the email you received
2. Select or enter your email address. If manually entering your email address, use the exact address that received the link
An important note about email aliases
Please be sure to verify using the exact email address to which the secure message was sent. If the email was sent to an alias, group address, or distribution list address, you will need to select or enter that exact email address rather than your personal address.
3. If prompted, choose your sign in method. You may do so via your provider or a one-time verification link. Note: if your organization has configured SSO with Virtru, you will be directed to your Identity Provider
If you selected Send Verification Email, you will be directed to a "Check your inbox" page
You will also receive an email from verify@virtru.com. Select Verify Me to complete the process, or enter the one-time code on the "Check your inbox" page
Note:
Verification must be completed in the same browser on the same device in which you started the process in order to confirm your identity.
If you do not receive the verification email, click here to troubleshoot.
5. Upon successful verification, you will land on a "Message Summary" page
Viewing Secure Content
Once you are verified, you can see what files were shared with you and any applicable additional messaging from the sender.
You will be able to:
-
View files shared with you. Note: Some file types cannot be previewed and must be downloaded and viewed locally
-
Download files shared with you. Note: If a file has Watermarking applied to it, downloading will be disabled
- Send a SECURE REPLY"
- If you and the other party have utilized the SECURE REPLY function to send files back and forth, you can also see the message chain on the right. Here, you can click the View Message Summary eye icon to see specific files from a previous share in the chain
- If the contents of a particular share have been adjusted, an "Activity History" section will be available at the top of the page. By default, it shows the most recent change, but you can click VIEW ALL to see a list of all changes.
