When you use Persistent File Protection on a file, any unauthorized recipients will have the ability to request access to the file. Once access is requested, you can use the Virtru Control Center to grant or deny access to the file for that specific recipient.

For example, let's say, using Persistent Protection, you send a spreadsheet to a co-worker and they download and share it with one of their subordinates who needs to take action on it. Since you did not include the subordinate on the original email, they do not have authorization to access the file. However, when they try to view this file, they can request access, which will then allow you to grant or deny their request.

Request Access from the Secure Reader 

When the recipient of a tdf.html file attempts to access a file they do not have access to, they will be presented with a screen in Secure Reader that allows them to request access. Once they click the Request Access button, it will trigger an email informing the owner of the pending request. 

Manage Access

When someone requests access to a tdf.html file, the owner will receive an email from Virtru. This email includes information about who is attempting to access which file and provides a link to the file metadata in the Virtru Control Center.

1. To accept or decline the request, click Manage Access to head to the file in the Control Center.

2. This will take you to the Files section of the Virtru Control Center and automatically pull up the file in question. (You may need to log into the Control Center).

3. From there, in the Users Requesting Access section, you can Grant or Deny access to the file for the user(s) in question.

Either action will automatically trigger an email to the requester informing them of the updated status. If the user’s request is granted then they will need to re-open the file in question and access in the the Secure Reader. If access is denied, the user will receive notification and will not be able to access the secure file.
