About
By default, when syncing with Google Workspace or Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Virtru will pull in all users from the domain, regardless of the number of licenses. In these scenarios, if an organization has only purchased licenses for a subset of users, we suggest configuration of a provisioning group for license management.
Alternatively, we do offer the ability to limit the sync to a single group in the Workspace or Entra. We still suggest a full sync with a provisioning group, but if required, details on selective syncing are below.
Steps to Limit the Sync
In order to limit the sync, an admin will need to provide a target Group ID to Virtru for back-end configuration.
-
Google Workspace: The Group ID can be found in the URL when viewing the group in the Workspace Admin center. It is an alphanumeric string found after "groups/" in the URL
-
Entra ID: The Group ID is the "Object ID" populated in the table of Groups.
Once you have the designated Group ID, please share it with your Virtru Customer Success Manager, Deployment Engineer, or Customer Support. Once configured, we will let you know when to proceed with the sync.
Notes/Limitations
- Your desired Virtru admins will need to be in the group you are syncing. This must include at least one Super Admin on the Google side.
- Only one group can be used for limiting purposes, so please only provide one Group ID for configuration.
- For Google organizations, when installing the Marketplace app, you still need to select Everyone at your organization. Virtru will receive the full domain map and then limit who is added to the Virtru team in the Control Center.
