Virtru for Drive enables secure enterprise collaboration in Google Drive by providing end-to-end encryption and granular access controls to protect files uploaded to Google Drive. File Encryption and Decryption
With Virtru for Drive, you can encrypt a variety of documents both pre-existing or during upload. You can also decrypt contents that have previously been encrypted.
Note on Supported File Types
Virtru for Drive cannot be used to encrypt collaborative files, such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. However, encrypted copies of static equivalents can be created.

Folder Encryption and Decryption
In addition to encrypting individual files, with Virtru for Drive, you can encrypt all the contents of your folders in Drive. You can also decrypt contents that have previously been encrypted.
Notes on Folders
If the contents of the folder total more than 250MB combined we recommend encrypting the files individually.
Not available for Google collaborative documents inside of the folder (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). The folder must contain only static document types (PDF, Microsoft Office file types, png, etc.). Encrypted copies will create static equivalents of collaborative file types.

After encrypting files in your Drive, you can still share files with other users. Access will be restricted to only listed authorized users and additional security options can be applied.

File Security Options
Share an Encrypted File
To share an encrypted file with someone and grant them access to the encrypted content:
1. Right-click the desired file and select Share.
2. Enter the email address of the recipient and click Send.

File Security Options
You can manage access and apply a number of additional security options onto an encrypted file in Drive. These options include the ability to revoke access, disable re-sharing, expire access, and apply watermarking.
Revoke Access |
This feature allows you to remove access to users who you previously shared an encrypted file with. To revoke, right-click the desired file > click Security Options > in the right side detail pane that appears, click Revoke Access from all Guests.

Disable Re-sharing |
With the Disable re-sharing option, you can prevent authorized users from sharing an encrypted file with new parties. To apply, right-click the desired file >click Security Options > in the right side detail pane that appears, select the checkmark next to Disable Re-sharing. |
Access Expiration |
This option will allow you to set a custom expiration which automatically revokes access to the encrypted file at the assigned date and time. To apply, right-click the desired file > click Security Options > in right side detail pane that appears, click the checkbox next to Set access expiration. You can then select the number of days for authorized users to have access before expiration. |
Watermarking |
You can place a watermark on supported files as an extra layer of security in deterring data leakage. The file will be watermarked with the email address of the user accessing the document and downloading will be blocked.
To apply, right-click the desired file > click Security Options > In right side detail pane that appears, click the checkbox next to Watermarking. |
