About
Using Virtru for Drive in shared drives differs from how it operates in My Drive. This article will highlight some key differences.
Configuration
In order for your team to use Virtru in shared drives, please complete the following: Enabling Shared Drive for Virtru for Drive
Permissions for members of a Shared drive
Using a Google service account, Virtru is able to view all members of specific shared drives. This allows the Virtru plugin to dynamically look up members of a shared folder to determine if a specific user should have access to a file.
If a user is a member of a shared drive, they will have access to the secure files within it. Files within shared drives will not need to be individually shared to the other members of that shared drive. As memberships in shared drives change, Virtru access will update to match the members list, too.
Permissions for non-members of a Shared drive
If a member of a shared drive needs to share a file to a non-member, they can right-click the file in question and share manually. This operation is just like usage in My Drive.
