Virtru Secure Share is also available as a progressive web app (PWA) that can be installed on the desktop. This makes Secure Share easier to access and display more prominently on users machines. Users can install the Secure Share individually, but admins may want to force install it for users in their organization to help increase usage. In this article, we will cover how admins can force install the Secure Share PWA.
Overview:
There are a couple ways to force install PWAs depending on how you manage your users, their browsers and devices. The steps below cover common setups and configurations, but may not work in all cases.
When deploying the PWA, the Virtru URL you will need is: https://secure.virtru.com/secure-share/
Force Deploy in Google:
If you leverage managed Chrome browsers and ChomeOS devices, you can deploy Virtru via the Google Admin console. Otherwise, you will need to deploy it via GPO or other means.
This article walks you through the options and includes step-by-step instructions.
Force Deploy in Microsoft:
To Force install the extension in Microsoft, you will need to leverage the settings catalog in Intune. More information can be found here.
It is also possible to force deploy PWA via a GPO push or other methods.
Please Note: Microsoft does not offer specific step-by-step instructions on how to force deploy PWAs. If/when they do, we will link to their updated documentation.
MDM & Other Options:
It is possible to deploy PWAs via other means, such as a Mobile Device Management tool (MDM). However, compatibility and the specific deployment steps will vary from tool to tool. We recommend contacting your MDM provider to confirm if they support force deploying PWAs.
