When using the Virtru O365 Add-in, users will see a pop-up when sending both encrypted and unencrypted messages. For unencrypted messages, the message says "Virtru is Working on Your Request" and/or a message that says "Virtru is sending message." These messages display because Virtru is scanning your message in accordance with any encryption rules your account administrator has set up. Once the scan is complete, the message should be sent successfully by Microsoft.
How long should the scan take for unencrypted messages?
Typically, the scan should only take a second or two at most. During this time you will see the pop-up that says "Virtru is Working on Your Request" and/or "Virtru is sending message." However, if performance is worse for you, we recommend notifying your account administrator. Virtru does offer an option to disable scanning in the Virtru O365 add-in. But this feature needs to be requested by an account administrator.
If you are an account administrator who wants to explore disabling scanning for the Virtru O365 Add-in, more information can be found here. Please note, this setting is organization wide.
What if I don't see a pop-up?
If the pop-up never displays, it might prevent your messages from being sent. We recommend:
- Check your cookie and pop-up settings. It is likely one of those settings is preventing the message from displaying and thus blocking sends.
- Make sure you are using Virtru on a supported version of Microsoft.
