Outbound Integration
Looker has been tested to work with the Virtru Data Protection Gateway for messages that are outbound from Looker. The goal is to ensure all Dashboards leaving Looker are routed through Gmail or O365 and evaluated using Content Compliance rules on Gmail/O365 Transport Rules, so that encryption is either applied or not applied via the Virtru Data Protection Gateway before they leave your domain.
Steps
There are 3 main steps which need to be configured in order to leverage the Virtru Data Protection Gateway to encrypt dashboards from Looker. The articles below will provide detailed information for each step:
- Set up SMTP relay from Looker to Gmail/O365
- Exporting Dashboards from Looker
- Creating Gmail/O365 Hosts & Rules In order to relay to the Gateway
Configuration Details
For this article, we are leveraging a key word in the Dashboard export which will trigger the Advance Compliance rule in Gmail to route the Dashboard to the Gateway for encryption.
The key word that is set up to trigger the rule in Gmail or O365 will need to be configured in Looker. The keyword can be included in the Dashboard name when the Dashboard is being created, or the user can rename the Dashboard before exporting it, and append the keyword.
