Version 1.17.0 of Virtru’s O365 Add-in was released on February 14th, 2023 and includes support for Shared Mailboxes. In most cases, the Add-in should update to version 1.17.0 automatically within 24-48 hours of the release. However, a one-time manifest update is needed for shared mailboxes to work on v1.17.0 or higher (unless you first deployed the add-in after February 14th, 2023).
The manifest update can be done in the Microsoft Admin Center anytime post-release, but shared mailboxes will not work until the manifest is updated. All other functionality in v1.17.0 will work automatically without the manifest file being updated. Instructions on how to update the manifest file can be found below along with a some FAQs.

If you deploy the Virtru O365 Add-in to your users via the Microsoft Admin Center, then please complete the following steps to update the manifest file:
1) Go to the Microsoft Admin Center -> Add-ins -> Select Virtru, then click Update Add-in
2) Microsoft will then ask how you want to update the add-in. Select Provide link to manifest file and paste in the following link (same link as before) and complete the process: https://cdn.virtru.com/outlookjs/manifest/VirtruForOutlook.xml
Once the update is complete, please keep in mind Microsoft can take up to 24 hours to push any updates out to your end users. If your users still report issues 24 hours after you updated the manifest, please contact Virtru Customer Support.

Q: Will the Virtru O365 add-in work if I don’t update the manifest right away?
A: Yes! All existing functionality will work even if you don’t update the manifest right away. The add-in will automatically update to the new version (1.17.0) and continue to function like it normally does. The only thing that won’t work until you update the manifest is support for Shared Mailboxes.
Q: Are there any other requirements or prerequisite for Shared Mailbox support?
A: Yes. The Virtru add-in needs to be force deployed at the admin level for your organization. There are also a few other platform specific requirements that are outlined here.
Q: Will I have to update the manifest for every release moving forward?
A: No. Most releases will not require a manifest update.
Q: Will shared folders in my own O365 mailbox be supported?
A: While Virtru will support Shared Mailboxes, Shared Folders in one’s own mailbox are not supported by the Virtru add-in. For more information, see Using the Virtru for Outlook 365 add-in in delegated and shared mailboxes.
